Services and Who We Treat
Neurological Conditions
Living with a neurological condition can mean that the things you find difficult change over time. Whether you have multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, cerebral palsy or another neurological condition, physiotherapy can help you manage those changes and keep doing the things that are important to you. We can work with you on movement strategies, walking, transfers, fatigue, stiffness, pain, posture and everyday function, as well as helping you find ways to manage changes in your abilities. Treatment will be tailored to you, your condition and what you want to achieve — whether that’s staying active, managing at home more easily, maintaining your current abilities or finding new ways to do the things you enjoy.
Movement and Exercise for Older Adults
Staying strong and active can make a real difference to confidence, independence and quality of life as we get older. We can create individual programmes that combine purposeful movement with things you actually enjoy, working on strength, balance, coordination and mobility without everything having to feel like exercise. This might be practising everyday movements, working on balance through games and activities, or finding fun ways to keep moving at home. Exercise doesn't have to be boring or complicated to be useful — movement can be fun, purposeful and something you look forward to.
Stroke and Brain Injury Rehabilitation
Whether your stroke or brain injury happened recently or many years ago, there is still plenty we can work on. We can support you with maintaining skills, developing new ones and addressing changes or challenges that may arise over time. This might include walking, transfers, getting around your home, using your affected side, fatigue management, confidence or facial rehabilitation, depending on what matters to you. Rehabilitation doesn't have to stop when you leave hospital or finish your initial therapy. We can support you with new goals, new challenges and changes in your abilities over time.
Falls Assessments
Falls can happen for lots of different reasons, and understanding why someone is falling is an important part of reducing the risk. We can provide a thorough assessment looking at things such as strength, balance, walking aids and movement patterns when completing everyday activities at home. We can also check your blood pressure and consider whether any medications or other factors may be contributing to your falls (and recommend a medical review where appropriate). We can then work with you to identify practical changes and strategies to address any risks or issues we find, helping to reduce your risk of falling and keep you safe, confident and independent. We can also provide advice on what to do if you do fall, and help you put a plan in place for managing a fall safely — giving you and your family greater confidence about what to do if it happens. We can't guarantee that you will never fall again, but we can help you understand your risks, make sensible changes and reduce the likelihood of future falls.
Heading 4
Maintenance Physiotherapy service
Physiotherapy programmes and appointments to help you stay on track. This service can provide valuable reassurance that you have a professional keeping an eye on things and helping you manage your longer-term therapy, once your initial physiotherapy input has finished or you have had an assessment. Maintenance physiotherapy, sometimes called “self-management”, can be really tricky to keep going with. We offer the option of regular weekly, fortnightly or monthly appointments with your physio to help you maintain your skills, stay active and keep the functional abilities that are important to you.
Getting back to yourself after illness or hospital stays
Being unwell or spending time in hospital can leave you feeling weaker, more tired and less confident than before. Even everyday things that used to feel easy can suddenly take much more effort. We can help you rebuild your strength, stamina and confidence, working towards the things that matter to you — whether that's managing around the house, getting back to your hobbies, going out and about, or simply feeling more like yourself again. We'll work at a pace that feels right for you, gradually building your tolerance and helping you understand what your body can manage now, and how to safely do a little more.
Progressive Conditions
With progressive conditions, physiotherapy and exercise can help you maintain what you have for longer. The condition may progress, but that doesn't mean we have to simply sit back and watch function disappear. We can work with you to maintain your abilities and, where we can, delay some of the changes that may affect your function. This might mean supporting strength, mobility, coordination, confidence and independence, with the focus on helping you continue to do the things that matter to you and make the most of your abilities.
Not everyone has a diagnosis to help explain what is happening to them and that’s ok - physiotherapists treat the person and the symptoms, not just the label. Our services can be tailored to you.
If you're unsure what you need, please get in touch. We can talk through what's happening- no sales pitch, no obligation, just a friendly conversation to see if we can help.
