About us

Amy Fairclough - Neuro & Rehabilitation Physiotherapy is a private physiotherapy service providing friendly, supportive home visits currently in the West Greater Manchester area.

We believe physiotherapy should not be scary or unachievable — and that no one is too old to benefit from it. Our aim is to help you thrive in your own environment, make the most of what you have and enjoy life, whatever challenges your health may bring.

Our specialist physiotherapist has particular experience in stroke and brain injury (acquired and traumatic), Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, fibromyalgia, falls prevention, frailty and mobility problems.

Amy qualified with a First Class degree in Physiotherapy in 2014 and went on to work in the NHS, gaining experience across a broad range of clinical areas. A personal career highlight was her time spent at The Walton Centre, a specialist neuroscience hospital trust, as part of the Cheshire and Merseyside rehabilitation network.

Through her work in acute and community neuro rehabilitation, intermediate care and falls prevention, Amy has developed a particular interest in stroke and brain injury, neuro rehabilitation, older adults, and people living with frailty or disability.

She brings specialist clinical knowledge and a strong commitment to evidence-based practice, but believes that great physiotherapy doesn’t need to feel complicated, clinical or intimidating.

Before becoming a physiotherapist, Amy spent three years working in social care, supporting adults with learning disabilities and a variety of health needs in their own homes. This gave her an early insight into what living with a diagnosis can really look like — the frustrations of losing independence, the things that suddenly become harder, and the small challenges that can make a big difference to everyday life. Those experiences have stayed with Amy throughout her physiotherapy career, giving her a real appreciation of the person behind the clinical label. After all, she's been there at 2am when the catheter bypassed and the sheets needed changing, but your mobility aid had rolled under the bed! More recently, she has also worked for Stroke Association, supporting families and survivors of stroke.

Outside of physiotherapy, Amy is a mum to two lively boys and is often found on the sidelines of a football pitch or making Play-Doh dinosaurs. Amy, her husband and their boys live in Salford with an attention-seeking cat, four guinea pigs and several sadly un-watered house plants. In her spare time, she loves drawing and reading a good book!
